Nigel Stewart Medical Director
Dr Nigel Stewart MBChB, DCH, Grad Cert Population Health, FRACP is a consultant paediatrician with extensive neonatal, general and rural paediatric experience. He is now semi-retired with a small practice in behavioural and developmental paediatrics.
Nigel gained his medical degree through Otago in Wellington and Dunedin, New Zealand and trained in Auckland and Christchurch to become a paediatrician. He worked for 5 years in general and neonatal paediatrics at Middlemore in South Auckland before going to Port Augusta in northern South Australia for 29 years. He set up a small service, teaching students and specialist trainees rurally. He was senior lecturer in Rural Child Health with the University of Adelaide. He now lives in Adelaide.
Nigel has been involved in many groups and organisations within SA and nationally advocating for improved child health, especially rural. He has spent brief periods in Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu as part of his career. Nigel is a citizen of both NZ and Australia, with both passports. His family hosted Rotary exchange students and he was Medical Director with Central ROMAC for a few years and joined Rotary formally with his appointment as Medical Director in May 2023.
